Reflecting on 2018 and HOPE
This year has been filled with hope, joy, grace, endurance. We added to our family this year through marriage. We saw great growth in our children. We also had some challenges. This is where HOPE played a big role in my year.
In the spring I wrote a blog series about my son, Jacob, and his testimony. We serve a God of mercy and grace! Seeing the transformation in Jacob was worth the journey through the valley as a parent. I did not give up on him. I held onto HOPE that God would lead him through that valley, and He did!
Life is not all sunshine and roses though. We have another child who is walking through a valley now. It has been a difficult journey as a parent, and it is continuing today. I have HOPE that God is still in control, even in the valley.
Some of you are going through a valley right now. Please know that you are not alone. You have HOPE, too. The best advice I can give you has a few steps — pray, read your Bible, and find someone you can talk to who can also pray for you and with you. The people who have been walking through the valley with me have encouraged me and loved me.
In Christian circles, many people gloss over problems and struggles. They have a fear of judgment and others talking about them. They are afraid that no one understands. When I wrote about our struggles, I had so many messages from people who think they are alone in their struggles.
If you are struggling, please feel free to drop me a note. I will pray for you. Spend some time in prayer today and see if God places a word on your heart for 2019.
Your Home Blessing for today is to wash the sheets.
Your Zone Mission for Monday is a Hot Spot Fire Drill in the Living Room.
My menu plan for Monday is New Year’s Eve Snacks.
Have a blessed day!
