Habit #7 – Quick Cleaning Your Bathroom Daily
Wiping your bathroom sink area and swishing your toilet daily sounds like a simple habit to implement, but most of you reading this put off cleaning your bathroom until you need to don rubber gloves and break out the heavy duty cleaning agents.
You can wipe your shower or tub, bathroom sink and counter, and swish your toilet in less than 2 minutes a day, and you will never have to deep clean your bathroom again.
Our bathrooms at home are used frequently. They also harbor germs and bacteria. A quick clean each day will help you keep germs at bay. It will also mean you have a sparkling clean bathroom when you have company.
You and your family are worth having a clean bathroom greet you each day. You will not believe how happy and confident you will feel about having a clean bathroom until you do this quick habit for several weeks.
When someone does get sick in your home, it will be easy to clean behind them when you are not having to clean months’ worth of build-up in the bathroom.
You are probably thinking it is a little compulsive to clean the bathroom daily. It really isn’t. You can do this quick daily maintenance with a few simple things and avoid using harsh chemicals.
You need a microfiber cloth, such as The FlyLady’s purple rags, and you need a toilet bowl brush, like The FlyLady’s Rubba Swisha.
You can store the rubber Swisha in a plastic crock with water and liquid soap. Germs will not grow in the soapy water. You just need to give your brush a little shake and swish it around in your toilet. Grab a small piece of toilet paper to wipe the rim of the toilet, and you are done. Once a month, you can wipe around the base of your toilet.
You can use the microfiber cloth with warm water and wipe down the shower or tub. Then wipe your bathroom counter and sink. The easiest way to maintain the counter top is to keep very few things on it. Store your personal hygiene items in a cabinet or drawer. If you don’t have storage, you can use a portable basket. You can wipe the counter in seconds when you don’t have to remove items first.
A clean bathroom is a healthy habit to have in your home. When you walk into a clean bathroom every day, you will smile and feel happy that a few minutes a day is all it takes to maintain your bathroom.
Your Zone Mission today is to have a Hot Spot Fire Drill in the Living Room. It’s time to purge some clutter.
Your Home Blessing for today is to wipe windows and mirrors.
My menu plan for Wednesday is soup and sandwiches.
Have a blessed day!
