Healthy Living and Decluttering – Getting Organized

Getting Organized:
In your home and homeschool

Today’s Zone Mission is to declutter the medicine cabinet. Check expiration dates and safely dispose of the ones that have expired. Check to see if you have everything you need to have one hand that you might ned. You don’t want to have to go out in the middle of the night to pick up a medications. Check your first aid kit, too. You want to be prepared, and you do not want to have expired products in your medicine cabinet.

I had a homeschool question last week about how I divide up history and science over 4 years, so I will elaborate on this.

Science – physical science, biology, chemistry, earth science. I rotate through these, and I teach it according to the ages of the boys. When they were younger, I did a lot of hands on experiments. As they have gotten older, we read, make hypothesis, and conduct the experiments.

History – civics/economics, American History, Ancient and World History, Medieval History. I rotate through these with the Presidential election year being the civics/economics year. I have used hands on history for the past 17 years, and my children enjoy history and remember what we have studied. We read historical accounts, biographies, poetry, historical fiction, and do activities that enhance what we are reading about. Twice, I have taken a year to study geography in depth.
