Happy December

Getting Organized:
In your home and homeschool

Welcome to a new month! I am thankful for December. It is my favorite month of the year. I enjoy the Holidays, and I enjoy celebrating the reason for Christmas with the birth of Jesus. I take a detour from the regular school lessons, except for math and reading. I have specifically structured my school year to allow for this change in my regular plans.Especially if you have little ones, consider doing some different activities in your day. It will give you a boost after the last couple of months of homeschooling.

We enjoy doing Christmas crafts and making presents. We enjoy Christmas music and decorating the house. We enjoy doing things for others. There are just so many things to enjoy about this month.

Have you started your shopping and decorating? Never fear, if you haven’t! The FlyLady has Super Holiday Cruising Missions to help you get ready.

The other fun thing in December with The FlyLady is that the Habit of the Month is to Pamper Yourself. As homeschool moms, we are not great at doing this. We will practice this all month long. We have to take care of our health, so we can take care of our families. Resting, relaxing, and doing something we enjoy is good for our bodies. If we are running around on adrenaline all the time, it harms out body. By taking a few minutes daily to relax, we reduce the stress we put on our bodies. Exercise, eating healthy, and drinking water are also a big part of taking care of our health. All of four of these are monthly habits with The FlyLady because we can be neglectful of them.

Using the basic routines listed below will also help you reduce your stress. The Before Bed Routine helps you get ready for the next day, so your mornings are peaceful. The Morning Routine helps you with your day, and you will be more productive if you get dressed to the shoes first thing in the morning. The Afternoon Routine helps you get the laundry moving along and dinner in process, so you can serve a healthy meal in the evenings. It all works together in small steps.

Happy December! I hope it is the best one yet for all of you!
